  • I Want Faster Charging (7kW or 22kW)

    Recommended:

✔ 7kW Smart EV Charger (Suitable for most homes and businesses)

✔ 22kW Smart EV Charger (For properties with a three-phase electrical supply and compatible vehicles)

If your property has a three-phase electrical supply, you may be able to benefit from faster charging with a 22kW AC charger. However, most UK homes have a single-phase supply, making a 7kW charger the ideal choice.

Our team can help you determine which option is right for your property and vehicle.

Tethered vs Untethered EV Chargers
Tethered Untethered

Great for everyday home charging Future-proof if you change vehicles
Ideal for most homeowners Popular for modern homes

Choosing the Right Charger Doesn't Have to Be Complicated

Most UK homes only need a 7kW smart EV charger, which provides fast, convenient overnight charging for almost every modern electric vehicle.

The right charger depends on:

✔ Your vehicle

✔ Your home's electrical supply

✔ Whether you prefer a tethered or untethered charger

✔ Whether you want smart charging features

✔ Whether you're charging at home or for a business.

Our team is always happy to help if you're unsure.

How Fast Will My Car Charge?
Charger Typical Use Approximate Charging Time*
3-pin Plug Emergency / Occasional 20–30 hours
7kW Home Charger Most UK Homes 6–10 hours
22kW Charger Commercial / Three-Phase Properties 2–5 hours
*Charging times vary depending on battery size and your vehicle's onboard charger.
Please note: A 22kW AC charger requires a three-phase electrical supply, and your vehicle must also support 22kW AC charging to achieve the maximum charging speed. If either your property or vehicle is limited to a lower AC charging rate, the charger will automatically charge at the highest speed available.

Compatible With Almost Every Electric Vehicle

Almost every modern electric vehicle sold in the UK uses the Type 2 connector for home AC charging. Newer vehicles also support CCS for rapid public charging. Older vehicles with Type 1 or CHAdeMO connectors may require a different cable or have more limited rapid charging options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a tethered or untethered charger?

Both options work well, so it mainly comes down to personal preference. A tethered charger has the charging cable permanently attached, making it quick and convenient to plug in at home. An untethered charger has a socket instead, giving you a cleaner appearance and the flexibility to use or replace your own Type 2 charging cable.

Will your chargers work with my car?

Our home EV chargers use the standard Type 2 connection used by virtually all modern electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles sold in the UK and Europe. If you're unsure whether a particular charger is suitable for your vehicle, contact our team and we'll be happy to confirm compatibility before you order.

Is a 7kW charger powerful enough?

For most UK homes, yes. A 7kW home charger is the standard choice and can typically add around 25–30 miles of range per hour, depending on the vehicle. Most cars can therefore be fully or substantially recharged overnight. Faster 11kW and 22kW charging requires a compatible vehicle and usually a three-phase electrical supply.

Can I use my own electrician?

Yes. All of our EV chargers are available on a supply-only basis, so you can use your own suitably qualified electrician for installation. We recommend using an electrician experienced in EV charger installations and ensuring the installation complies with current electrical regulations and any applicable DNO requirements.

How long does installation take?

A straightforward home EV charger installation will normally take around 3–4 hours. More complex installations may take longer if additional cabling, consumer unit work, load management, groundwork or other electrical upgrades are required. We can assess this as part of our quotation process before installation.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes, although the options available will depend on your property, electrical supply and vehicle. For example, moving from a 7kW charger to an 11kW or 22kW charger would normally require a three-phase electrical supply. If your requirements change in the future, our team can advise on the most suitable upgrade options.
