Smart load management for compatible EV chargers
The LEAF CT Clamp for EV Chargers is designed to monitor a property's electrical demand in real time, enabling dynamic load balancing when connected to a compatible EV charger.
Installed around the incoming electrical supply cable, the CT (Current Transformer) clamp measures the current being drawn by the property and communicates this information to the EV charging system.
When electrical demand elsewhere in the property increases, a compatible EV charger can automatically reduce its charging output. As demand falls, the charger can increase its charging rate again.
This helps manage the available electrical capacity and reduces the risk of the EV charger contributing to an overload of the property's main electrical supply.

Dynamic Load Balancing
EV charging can represent a significant electrical load, particularly when other high-demand appliances are operating at the same time.
A CT clamp monitors the overall electrical demand of the property.
When used with a compatible EV charger and load-balancing system, the charger can use this information to dynamically adjust the amount of power allocated to EV charging.
For example, when household electrical demand increases, EV charging power can be reduced. When demand decreases, the available charging power can increase again.
This allows the EV charger to make better use of the property's available electrical capacity.
